Be prepared for war - Tuesday, January 31, 2012

"And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian." Num. 31:3

It does not take a child of God long to realized that they have enlisted in a fight, not a physical one but a spiritual one, the word of God is full of admonishions to the saints of God to "war a good warfare," "fight the good fight of faith." What I find intresting about this verse is that the were going to war against the Midianites, this was the descendants of Moses wifes' family. Did not our Lord Jesus Christ himself say that a man's enemies sometimes would be them of his own family? This is a harsh reality in this spiritual fight that families and homes would be divided over the gospel message. The Lord Jesus said in another place "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword, For I am come to set a man at variance against his father...." Matt. 10:34-35. So child of God until the day the Lord Jesus sets his kingdom up upon this earth we must pray, fast, and stand for the Lord Jesus Christ girt our swords and make ready for battle, for truely we are in a warefare for men's souls. Eph. 6:12

"summer is past" - Monday, August 15, 2011

"The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved." Jer.8:20

As we meditate on this verse we are visited with a most urgent picture. As the time of summer is the time of planting and growing and long days in which much can be and is accomblished. The picture we are given is a spiritual one, the time of harvest and easy laboring (if you will) is gone, the days of harsh cold and long nights are ahead, ultimatly the judgment of winter is coming. The urgency of the verse is found in the statement, "and we are not saved." we have not yet been delivered. There are souls who have yet to come and have not given themselves to Christ and those who have not yet surrendered all to their master. May we catch this burden and begin to earnestly pray for those who are not yet saved. It is only the power of God and the power of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ that can touch a heart in the dead of winter. Turn dear sinner friend and find thy refuge form the coming winter, saint of God give all to him that in his house thou may abide safely as the winter winds howl. Pastor Carter
